Logos (variations on a theme)
Project
Polestar Studios logo
Client
Polestar Studios (my multimedia company)
Objective
To incorporate the original, metallic-look logo into a filmstrip background that would encourage viewers to associate the company with filming and videography.
Process
The filmstrip began as a piece of vector clip art; it was too short to accommodate the logo, so I used Illustrator to create a longer version. I then brought it into Photoshop to add the text, where the metallic look was created with layer styles.

Objective
To associate the company with filming and videography by using a film reel instead of a filmstrip background.
Process
The reel began as a stock photograph. I used Illustrator to convert the photograph to vector art; I then placed the vector art in Photoshop and used layer styles to create a metallic look to match the original logo.

Objective
To take the filmstrip look a step further by adding a blue metallic look to the background, rather than the plain, black-and-white filmstrip.
Process
I added layer styles to the filmstrip background to provide a blue, metallic, three-dimensional appearance; I also added a drop shadow to the logo to make it stand out from the background.

Objective
To associate the company with filming and videography by using a movie theatre marquee.
Process
The marquee began as a piece of vector clip art. In Illustrator, I enhanced the light bulbs by making the filaments brighter and the bulbs more three-dimensional; I also added a drop shadow under each bulb. Then I enhanced the marquee by making it three-dimensional and replacing the flat, black surface with a metallic gradient. I then brought the marquee into Photoshop, where I added the black background and the metallic text.
