Drupal

What is Drupal?

Drupal is a Content Management System (CMS). How does this differ from a plain-vanilla HTML site? HTML sites can be difficult to update and maintain, especially if you are not famliar with HTML, so you may end up relying on (and paying) a website designer to update and maintain your site for you. With Drupal, however, once your site is built, you can continue to expand and update the site, adding and revising information — without ever touching a line of code.

What can a Drupal site offer you?

  • Stories and articles: Post information about your site, your services, or your industry to the website from anywhere at any time.
  • Event calendar: Add or update events from anywhere at any time.
  • Blogs: You and your staff can post blog entries on your website from anywhere at any time.
  • Forums: Discuss topics with your website visitors.
  • Comments: Allow visitors and clients to comment on articles or blog entries posted on the site.
  • Control user access: Set up members-only access to certain features, such as leaving comments or participating in forums, or admin-only access to back-end features, such as posting new stories, articles, or photos.
  • Shopping cart: Sell nearly anything on your site: products, services, event tickets, workshop reservations, gift certificates, etc. Collect taxes, charge for shipping, provide discounts, and more. Includes PayPal setup.
  • Instant updates: Update any of the information on your site instantly from any computer with Internet access.
  • Multimedia: Include photos, audio, and video on your site.
  • Searchability: Visitors can search your entire site with a few clicks.
  • Expandability: Add new information, new pages, and new features to your site at any time.
  • Interactive maps: Display maps on any page, story, article, event, or blog entry.
  • Archives: Past stories, articles, blog entries, and events are not deleted from the website; they can still be accessed by website visitors.
  • Custom design: Have your site designed to your specifications, not a cookie-cutter template.

Is there a feature you’d like on your site that you don’t see listed here? Let us know; we’ll be glad to research it for you and offer you a cost-effective, time-efficient solution.

For example, appointment scheduling is not available in Drupal; however, if you are interested in utilizing an online appointment service, we have researched the topic and can recommend online services that may be right for your  needs.
